| The Davenport
Homestead near Creswell represents life for the ordinary
citizen during the 1700s to 1800s. Daniel Davenport,
Washington County's first state senator, built the 12 by
20-foot home which rests on pyramid-shaped cypress blocks
because Daniel could not afford bricks. A public homecoming
is held in June of each year, complete with cows to milk,
music and storytelling, great food and lots of old-time
customs and traditions. Bring your own chair. Arrange tours
for individuals or groups through the Port O' Plymouth
Museum at 252-279-1377. |
