Roper Peanut Festival--A Decade of Heritage Celebration
Celebrating its 10th season, this year's event begins with a parade at 12 noon and continues throughout the day with all kinds of tributes and fun for the entire family!

There will be Native American Floats, Hispanic Floats; The schools; Emergency Mgmt.; Senior Citizens; and others. Living Queens from former years will comprise this years' Queens Court. You'll find entertainment throughout the day under the tent of the Washington County Arts Council. Enjoy lots of great food, fun and fellowship in a homecoming-like atmosphere. Craft and other vendors, too. Entertainment includes dancing, singing and music.

The Annual Gospel Concert at the Betty McCain Amphitheater begins at 6 p.m. featuring The Laymen, Dick Feyer, The Victory Christian Fellowship Praise Team, and a surprise guest!

Cowboys on the Water

Miller Warren Regional Firefighers Competition
Honoring Miller Warren, their former Chief of 30 years, the Plymouth Fire Department and Auxiliary is sponsoring a Firefighters Competition featuring 4-man team events including Gear Donning Race, Tug-o-War, Bucket Brigade,Quick Dress, Hose Coupling Race, and more.

Apparatus Display and Judging. Fire Safety Games and Activities for children. Food and drinks for sale.

A Tuff Man individual competition will test a firefighter's endurance with five activities.

An Extrication Team Competition (limited to the first 10 team applications received) will test each five-man team and their skills in hands-on scenarios. Extrication tools will be provided. Teams must bring and wear PPE.

A Truck Judging event lets you bring your favorite apparatus to be judged against the best in the area.

Take this excellent opportunity to sharpen your team skills and spend the weekend enjoying the fun and games in beautiful Plymouth-on-the-Roanoke!

Annual Antique and Classic Wood Boat Show
Bring your favorite boat (no fee to display or visit) and spend all day Saturday with other wooden boat lovers!

Held next to the Roanoke River Lighthouse on the banks of the Roanoke River in downtown Plymouth, NC. Over 40 boats have participated in the last few boat shows, including new constructions, restored classics, historic replicas and working craft.

All events are free. Lots of parking space. Follow signs on Highway 64 to downtown.

If you are interested in showing a boat or maritime artifact you can register, use the contact information below. Come join in the fellowship with other collectors and share your story. There is no fee to display your boat.

Rehoboth Love Feast
This inspirational and spiritual event is held annually at Rehoboth Methodist Church located east of Roper on US 64. Participants may take part in a communion service. Carols, prayer and scripture with individual witness and spontaneity make The Love Feast a special time for families and friends to join together in its celebration. This event will begin at 5 pm.

Somerset Place Eighteenth Annual Christmas Open
See Somerset Place State Historic Site in its holiday finery. Enjoy historic decorations handcrafted by students from Washington and Tyrrell counties, homemade desserts, a free meal of black-eyed peas cooked over the open flame and cornbread cooked the old fashioned way in the fireplace hearth.

Christmas on the Ridge
Mid-County Volunteer Fire Department's "Christmas on the Ridge" annual dinner fundraiser and parade will take place on Sunday, December 9. A BBQ chicken and pork dinner will begin around 11:00 a.m. The parade will start at 4 p.m.

Tickets for the dinner are available in advance from any Mid-County Firefighter or at Feyer Ford in Plymouth. Tickets are $7.00 for either a quarter BBQ chicken or a BBQ pork plate. Combo plates are available for only $1.00 more. Potatoes, beans, rolls and tea are also included.

Located at 18135 NC Hwy 32 North in Roper approx 1 mile south of the Albemarle Sound Bridge and 1 mile north of the "Pea Ridge Y" intersection of NC 32 and NC 94.

Bait your hooks and get ready for the first FishIBX largemouth bass tournament of 2008 in the Roanoke River!

Blast off is at 8 a.m. and weigh-in will be at 3 p.m.

$50 entry fee. $5.00 Big Fish (optional). NO RAMP FEEs! Five fish limit. 85% payout. No payment needed in advance. Money collected at ramp.

The Fouth Annual North Carolina Forest Festival celebrates the long history and association of the Washington County area with forestry and forest-related industry and agriculture.

Davenport Homestead Heritage Day
History lives through exhibits and demonstrations of old time ways. The restored 1770's homestead features the simple wood frame home of Washington County's first senator, Daniel Davenport, along with outbuildings that include the Loom House, Salt House, Corn Crib, Smoke House and, of course, the outhouse. You'll find many anitigue farm and home implements on display. The house features an upstairs loft, a brick fireplace, rope beds, household artifacts, and more. Old time food and crafts will sold and entertainment tops of the day! Bring the family and show the kids what life was like before iPods and xboxes!

Farm City Festival and Christmas on the Roanoke
Get in the holiday spirit with this joint celebration of Washington County's Farm-City Festival and Christmas on the Roanoke!.

On the Saturday before Thanksgiving Washington County joins others around the nation to celebrate the vital connection between farmers, who grow our food and so many other raw materials, and their city counterparts, who process, transport and retail these products to the rest of us. The excitement begins with a parade 11 a.m.

Help celebrate this connection with lots of family-friendly attractions including a petting zoo, rabbit and chicken show, hay ride, arts and crafts, entertainment and dozens of vendors--all centrally located at the park next to Port 'o Plymouth Museum on East Water Street in Plymouth, N.C.

Farm City Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. If you would like to participate as a craftsperson or other vendor, please contact Gerda Rhodes, Washington County Extension Agent, at 252.793.2163 or through the contact information below.

Christmas on the Roanoke This two-day event will take place on the banks of the Roanoke River in Historic Plymouth. Friday evening's events will begin at 5:30 with the "Lighting of the Park," and Riverwalk." Saturday's events will begin at 10 am, with a Christmas Parade at 11 am to kick off Farm-City Festival and related activities. Food and craft vendors will be set up for everyones' convenience and enjoyment. Purchases can be made to make holiday entertaining and shopping easy and fun. Musical entertainment will take place throughout the day. No admission.
